Directions

Derrick Hall

We are located in Derrick Hall on the third floor in room 301. Derrick Hall is the brick building attached to the Math Computer Science (MCS) Building which is just at the bottom of the iconic Alkek library steps. After exiting the elevator on the third floor, turn left and go down the hallway on the right that is across from the award cases (not the hallway directly in front of the elevator). Our office is at the very end through the glass door with the label Department of Aerospace Studies on it.

If coming from I-35 North/South

Follow Interstate 35 south/north to San Marcos, take exit 206 onto Aquarena Springs Drive. Stay on Aquarena Springs Dr until the intersection for Sessom Dr which will be located across from Sewell Park. Turn right onto Sessom Dr and continue up the hill on Sessom Drive for about 3 stoplights until the N Comanche St intersection. Turn left onto N Comanche St and then turn left at the first stoplight onto Student Center Dr. Remain on Student Center Drive until entering the Matthews Street Garage which will be the parking garage on the left.  Det 840 is in 301 Derrick Hall which requires a walk from Matthews Street Parking Garage across Russell Circle.

Parking Options

Parking garages are open to the public, although there is a fee to park in the garages.

1. Matthews Street Garage

Matthews parking garage is the closest parking garage to the detachment. If you have parked in Matthews Street Garage, walk across the street and between Smith and Arnold Hall. Derrick Hall is the brick building attached to Math Computer Science Building across from Russell Circle signage.

2. LBJ Parking Garage

LBJ parking garage is the second closest parking garage to the detachment. LBJ parking garage is the smaller parking garage located directly in front of the LBJ student center. If you parked at LBJ parking garage, walk to the left after exiting the garage. Walk past the LBJ Center entrance and between the Jackson resident hall and the LBJ Center is a staircase leading down to Arnold Hall. After walking down the staircase, continue through Arnold Hall and Derrick Hall will be the brick building just on the other side of Arnold Hall.

3. Student Parking Lots

Student parking lots require a Texas State Parking permit, which is issued out by colors. If you have a green (residential) Texas State Parking permit, there is a student parking lot located directly behind Derrick Hall. Student parking lots around campus are available to students, with a permit, to park in 24/7.
